Getting a new bed should be exciting, without the worry of what to do with your old one.

At Bedtime Bed Centre, we offer free like-for-like disposal on orders over £350, collecting your old mattress or bed when we deliver its replacement.

And the journey doesn’t stop at collection. The old mattresses we collect are taken to a recycling centre, where they are dismantled so suitable materials can be recovered and recycled.

What happens to your old mattress?

1. We collect it when we deliver

Arrange your like-for-like collection with our team when ordering, and we’ll take away your old item when your new one arrives.

2. We store it separately

Collected mattresses are stored in a dedicated warehouse, separate from our new beds and mattresses, ready for the next recycling collection.

3. The recycling lorry collects

A large collection lorry takes the old mattresses from our warehouse to a mattress recycling centre.

4. Materials are separated for recycling

At the centre, each mattress is dismantled and its components sorted. Depending on its construction and condition, materials such as steel pocket springs, foam and fibres can be recovered for further use.

It’s a practical way to dispose of your old mattress responsibly and give useful materials another purpose.

Why we recycle

Less waste going to landfill

Mattresses are bulky items. Recycling helps divert them from landfill and recover materials that would otherwise be thrown away.

A more responsible approach

We want to take care of more than your new bed. Sending collected mattresses for recycling helps us manage the waste created when customers replace their old ones.

Recovering valuable resources

An old mattress can still contain useful materials. Recovering these allows suitable components to be processed for other uses, helping reduce demand for new raw materials.

Preparing for collection

A little preparation helps our delivery team collect your old bed safely and smoothly:

• Book your collection in advance with our team.
• Keep your old items indoors. Please do not leave them outside before collection.
• Remove all bedding, including sheets, pillows and mattress protectors.
• Dismantle old bed frames before collection.
• Keep access clear so our team can remove the agreed items.

We cannot accept badly soiled items. If you’re unsure whether your mattress or bed is suitable for collection, please speak to us before delivery day.

Is disposal free?

We offer free like-for-like disposal on orders over £350. Please arrange this with our team when placing your order.

What does like-for-like mean?

We collect the equivalent old item you’re replacing, for example, an old mattress when you purchase a new mattress. If you’re replacing a complete bed, speak to us about the items you need collected.

Are old mattresses stored with new stock?

No. Collected mattresses are stored in a separate, dedicated warehouse, away from our new beds and mattresses.

What happens to my mattress after collection?

It is stored ready for collection by the recycling lorry, then taken to a mattress recycling centre for dismantling and material recovery.

Can I arrange disposal on an order under £350?
