Care and Maintenance

How to care for your new mattress or bed

Let your mattress air - it is important to ventilate your mattress after taking delivery. New mattresses can hold an odour which will dissipate after a few days.

Mattress protection - we recommend to use a breathable, waterproof mattress protector in order to stop stains and protect against dustmites. If a mattress is stained this will void your guarantee should a manufacturing fault occur.

Turning your mattress - a turnable mattress must be turned and rotated. As a rough guide, most manufacturers advise turning/rotating your mattress, once a week for the first 12 weeks and once a month there after. A non-turn mattress will need to be rotated on the same basis. Failure to do this will effect the guarantee.

Settlement or body impressions - most mattresses will settle and body impressions will be made. This is a normal characteristic of a mattress and is not considered a manufacturing fault. Settlement will be magnified in mattresses with a bigger span such as a king or super king size or where one person sleeps in the same place. Therefore following the gidelines above on turning and rotating your mattress will help to minimise the effect of settlement.

Cleaning your mattress - using a soft brush to remove dust or fluff from your mattress is more advisable than using a hoover. Using a hoover on your mattress may cause fillings to move and will void your guarantee. Do not use chemicals or detergents, we recommend that any spillages be absorbed with a dry cloth and if needed mild soapy water. Prevention is the best thing, so by using a breathable waterproof mattress you can protect your new mattress from any spillages and dustmites.
